Christmas promises

Date: 18th December 2018

“… Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished.” Luke 1:45

“[my word] will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

As 2018 draws to a close, I’m sure many of you, like me, still hold things in your heart that you are waiting on the Lord to fulfill. I want to encourage you that our heavenly father is faithful; those things He has promised in that still quiet voice that your heart quickened to will yet be fulfilled. Like the prophet in Isaiah reminds us, and Elizabeth’s declaration echoes, our God is faithful!

So as the year draws to a close, and a new year begins I encourage you to take the time to reflect on the things that have been fulfilled. It might be a while ago, but it’s a good exercise to remember God’s faithfulness in our lives. Then savour those things that still await fulfillment. Anticipation draws our hearts close to God, and we become poised to receive the promises. It’s essential that we are the people we need to become in order to possess the promises.

In Isaiah Israel was still in exile, but they had to become a people ready to once again occupy the promised land. For Mary she was yet to see the evidence of the angel’s words; that she was pregnant with her son. Israel and Mary knew the importance of becoming in order to receive the promise.

Don’t lose heart, burrow into God, and take courage. Our God goes with you, and the promises will eventuate … in the right season.

So as Christmas approaches, the promises sit like unwrapped gifts …

They are there.

They are yours.

They have been given in love.

Don’t just receive them …

Take possession of the promises and live in the fullness of all God’s favour.

Love and blessings to you and see you again in 2019
